For the average non-Japanese, ordering sake involves just one simple question: hot or cold? Sake is one of my favourite alcoholic drinks, and has been for several years now, so why do I know so little about it? After my recent visit to Yashin Ocean House to review their incredible new menu, I was invited to come and join their Sake Brewer’s Club to see if I could find some answers to my question.
Yashin Ocean House – famous for their no soy concept – introduced a new menu at the start of 2018. Key changes include new meat dishes, the introduction of a California roll, and unusual flavour combinations, even by their standards. Despite the quirks and contradictions, combining traditional Japanese methods with more European ingredients, Yashin stand out as one of the best Japanese sushi restaurants in London.
